Well, dear Readers, the time has come:
We're selling our house!
No, we're not moving; we're selling Patrick's house. Yep, the Bachelor Pad, the house Patrick bought before I knew him, the house he - and then we - have been renting since he transferred to Ohio in early 2006. Back then, we were just dating. By the time we got married, I'd moved out of my apartment and purchased my own home in the boonies quaint country-ish Suffolk, famous for its peanuts! We decided that since my home was newer, larger, and (dare I say) prettier - not to mention the fact that all my things were already here and there were tenants in the other house - after we were married and Patrick moved back to Virginia we'd stay here and continue to rent what has affectionately become known as The Other House!
Well, that was two years ago, and we've been talking for quite some time, and we've decided that the time has come to rid ourselves of an additional mortgage, an obnoxious property manager, and the headaches that come with being a landlord. Although we're still bound by the Property Management contract Patrick signed years ago, we're lucky in that the realtor we're working with is head and shoulders above the property manager we've been cursed with for the past four years. I'm super excited to be working with her!
That said, the house is older, and let's face it, tenants do not take care of houses as well as homeowners do. Suffice it to say, the house needs work! But with the killer combo of TLC and elbow grease, we're going to get The Other House into ship shape and ready to show!
So, in the coming months, our home repairs and upgrades will be added into my bloggy mix of nursing school, bunions, and another little project we have in the works that I'm keeping mum for now!
