This Weekend at the Home Makeover...

Just in case you wanted to see the latest photos from our house makeover:

Fireplace before...

...and after! The frame around the mirror makes such a difference! It was seriously pretty easy; you can buy a door frame kit from Lowe's and then cut to fit your mirror and mount!

Master bath before...

...and after! We just cleaned/polished the cabinets, added hardware, and changed the light fixture!

Kitchen before (yes, you've seen this picture before, as we made updates in phases)...

...and after!! Painted cabinets with hardware, new lighting, new oven/hood, new counters....

...and a second view, with the new sink/faucet, dishwasher, and a pretty good picture of the countertops! It looks sooo good; I couldn't be prouder!

House Remodel: Week 3

Just finished our third working weekend of fixing up the rental for sale! Today we focused on painting out the closets and banister, installing new smoke detectors and dishwasher, and some other general clean-up. Here are some updated pictures of what we've accomplished:

Kitchen before...

Kitchen after...almost! We changed the fluorescent overhead light, painted the cabinets and added hardware, and replace the over-range hood (dishwasher and range coming soon)

Downstairs bath before...

Downstairs bath after...polished/stained the cabinets/mirrors, added hardware, and replaced the faucet/sink

Just call me Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

As you might know from previous posts, Patrick and I are refreshing his old bachelor pad (which has been rented out for the past four years) and prepping it for sale hopefully later this month!

Just one week after Patrick returned home from deployment, over Memorial Day weekend, we began OPERATION BACHELOR PAD. Last weekend, while PAtrick prepped for major cleaning and touch up painting, I replaced all of the lighting fixtures (11 to be exact). I think my fingers have perma-blisters from stripping all that electrical wire!!!

This weekend we demo'ed the countertops, painted all the cabinets and got them rehung, and started the remodel of the downstairs/guest bath. Dad came and hauled the old 'fridge over to our house in my grand-dad’s old truck and Patrick pulled out all the other old appliances as well....Salvation Army will come haul them off later this week! The bathrooms are not complete yet....Patrick yanked the sink/countertop out of the downstairs bath today, and we haven't done anything other than change the lighting fixture upstairs.... But you can see those "before" pictures now, and I’ll be sure to post along the "after" shots later!

Enjoy!

Pulling out the old dishwasher

ALL the 38 drawers/doors we painted Saturday, going until we had NO more light.....it was so hot outside that the primer was drying before we could get it on the wood!

We had to split this piece up, as the builders put in joints to make it a huge U-shaped piece that we couldn't get out all at once!

Demo'ing the countertops was sorta fun!

No more counters!!!!

Kitchen after painting!

Kitchen after...doors back on, just waiting for hardware (pulls and knobs on the drawers/doors)

An example of the lighting before.....

And after!!! I successfully rewired and rehung eleven fixtures, to include two ceiling fans....now you know why I have blisters on my fingers!

Fireplace before...we have a kit to frame out this mirror...but we just bought those pieces about an hour ago, so we haven't installed it yet!!!
